Adversity has no concept of time. In fact, it’s quite obvious that no other thing on Earth, living or not, takes to heart so dramatically the idea of time as human beings do. People place the utmost importance on time.Time is of the essence…there’s not enough time…and most are quick to write off opportunity simply because the timing isn’t right. Perhaps timing becomes irrelevant when ambition is placed first? Perhaps putting the blinders on and keeping your eye on the prize influences whether the timing is right? And more generally speaking, perhaps there is immeasurable merit in regard to determination in the face of adversity?
Those honored at the St. Louis Business Journal’s yearly 40 Under 40 Awards can surely relate to both ends of the spectrum, as can anyone who’s experienced any success, no matter how menial or monumental. It’s no secret that successes in life are often preceded by hardship, and Cfx, Inc. owners Chris Frank and Megan Frank are a living testament to the aforementioned merit in ambition and determination. Being honored in the St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2006, the couple received criticism for Cfx, Inc.’s launch during low economic times amid a declining industry. Though critical in its introduction, the article eventually praises Chris Frank for the immense success of Cfx despite adversity, in this instance, regarding timing. The story is one of many in which the power-couple defied naysayers by keeping their nose to the grindstone. Though a decade later, their zeal is still as admirable as ever.
